Replacing laptop hard drive

Our HP laptop's hard drive failed and we have ordered a replacement. Unfortunately, we can only find one of the two rescue disks we made for this machines, but do have a copy of XP. After inserting the new hard drive, will simply loading XP from a boot disk ensure that the laptop works OK or will we have to do other things too?

You'll need to reinstall drivers(to be found on the HP website).0

When you say you have a copy of XP, do you mean one that was supplied with the laptop in question. If it is from somewhere else, you may have problems activating XP with the COA key from the laptop.0
