PerhapsI am expecting too much at the mo,but am ever hopeful.

Things will get better but it is a long long process and It will hurt, not just you and your son but the entire family.

Maybe you need to counselling to realise that it was not your fault that your son took this route in his life? Also you must remember that it was not your fault. I know you will blame yourself somewhere along the line, my parents did for a long time with my brother and I blamed myself for a time aswell thought I had been a horrible sister etc.
  • THANKYOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT...

Had to let you all know what is happening now! Dont even know if I have done this correctly, but here goes!

My son actually started to get some professional help.
He has been in counselling for a couple of months now on a 1:1 basis, and it seems to be going ok, but tough going.
When I get to talk to him he seems to be less angry, but very tearfull. He still does not open up to me or his dad completely, but he is trying very hard it seems.

He wants to turn his life around - although obviously finding it quite tough, I can't actually feel what he's going through, but it hurts me to know he's finding it so tough....
I know that sounds wierd, but I feel completely hopeless, but at the same time, I know he has to do this for his own sake.

he found christmas extremely difficult, but he did spend a couple of hours with us christmas day - and for that im gratrful. I know he still has a long way to go, but at the moment I can only wish he comes out of this the other end.

Thanks you so much for all your replies and support, I will keep you all updated.
    A THANKFUL MUM

    Thank-you for the update

I'm glad he's getting the help and support he needs. It may seem he has a long way to go but he's on his way, and that's the important thing.

I hope things get better for you both. take care.
