Hi everyone, we have a freesat card, NOTE NOT FREEVIEW, and have had no problems. But today we keep getting a message pop up on the TV screen, telling us to go to Sky.com to renew our card.
But there is nothing on Sky.com about Freesat!!!
So what is it all about? Are we about to loose Freesat? How do I stop these pop up messages?

That is the website you need.
You do not have freesat, you have freesatfromsky0 -

The only channels you'll lose without a card is Sky3, FIVER and FIVEUS.
FIVE can be added back in manually if it's not there, though there'll be no EPG.
The card does give you your regional programs for BBC and ITV though.
Depending on how you got your card, you may be eligible for a free replacement. Failing that, a new card is £20 if you want to retain the channels.Dave. :wave:0 -

I've got Freesat (not a card) with Humax receiver and have never been able to get FIVER or FIVEUS - I didn't know you couldfitzroy0 -

Thanks all, But does the message mean that my Freesat card purchased from Sky in 2006 is about to be cancelled? I thought it was for ever with a one-off payment.0

It is highly likely that you will need to buy a new card, very unfair, but that is how Sky works I'm afraid.0 -

You may only use your Viewing Card for private viewing purposes at your Address in the UK, the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands. For security reasons Viewing Cards may be inactivated from time to time. In this situation, if you wish to continue to receive all the encrypted Free to View channels, you will have to purchase a new viewing card at our then applicable standard charge. If possible, viewing card inactivations will be advertised on your television screen.0 -
Sky are replacing ALL set top box cards at the moment, so any 'house' designed cards will be switched off shortly. Subscibers are having their new cards sent out automatically."...IT'S FRUITY!"0

If it's from 2006 they must provide a new one free and actually already should have. Give them a call, and don't let them get £20 out of you!0

This is from the Sky viewing card website -Who will receive a new Sky viewing card?
We'll be replacing all Pay TV providers' viewing cards. Plus, Pay Once Watch Forever and Digital SwitchOver (DSO) Help Scheme customers will also be automatically mailed cards.
If you do not fit the criteria above, but use a Sky viewing card to access free-to-air channels, you won't automatically receive a replacement card. However, you can obtain a new card by visiting sky.com/replacecard.
If you fit into any of these, you should get the card for free. If not, you'll have to pay.Dave. :wave:0
