Spooler SubSystem App stopped working and was closed

Options
Hoping someone can help. I was printing yesterday and after a while of printing I got the message 'spooler subsystem app stopped working and was closed' now I can't print at all. I typed the error message into Google and tried some of the suggestions to fix the problem but none have worked.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

  • Have a look at MS sites:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324757

They also have a "let us fix it" option which may solve your issue, or if you know what your doing try following the manual steps.

    Hope this helps!

Have you tried the MS link ? Did you run a AV check on your computer to check its clean ?

Yes the ms fix didnt work for me... I have just opted for print directly to printer AV didnt find nothing but malwarebytes did...
  • Couple of things I would try...

    1) Check the printer spooler service is running, to do this Click Start > Run > services.msc and hit OK, now scroll down till you see service called "Printer Spooler" have a look to the right of that line and see what the status is i.e disabled/stopped ?

    2) If you've cleaned an infected computer, uninstall printer software, download latest from manufacture site and do a clean install as some registry keys may be corrupt/damaged from the infection.

I'm using Vista and an getting this problem.

I've tried un-installing the HP software, then re-installing. Also tried running virus & spyware scans, but I still have the same problem.

    Can anyone help?

I've also run the "Let us fix it" in post #2, but still have the problem.
