Lost my Settings and users on XP

Hi

I have hit into a brick wall !!!

My desktop PC seems to have lost all its settings - users, internet settings, programs etc. Before when i turned PC on I used to be able to choose between my user and my brothers, however now it just goes to the original HP screen. Strangely all my docs, music etc are still available and can be seen

Is there anyway to recover my 'lost' or old settings that were ok last week?

    The quickest way is probably to create a new account and then copy all your files over.

    The accounts may still be there, just 'hidden' by the automatic login feature. Logging out should reveal whether this is the case.

    True, but something similar happened to my wife's computer, necessitating the need to create a new account and copy everything over. In her case, her user profile was somehow corrupted.
