    Dear so and so,

I recently moved out of property X Road Name, Town Name and had agreed with the landlord that I would pass on the final bills which have been stamped by the local bank after they have been paid. I posted these 4 weeks ago by recorded delivery. They have been shown as recieved. (You may want to attach a print out showing it has been recieved with this letter) I have not heard anything from the landlord about getting my deposit back.

I have tried to make contact with the landlord with no success and am now writing to you before I go and seek professional help. (maybe something better, sounds like you're going to see a psychiatrist!) I do hope you can help me resolve this issue as quickly as possible to save any time and money spent in further purseing this course of action.

    Yours faithfully,

    BLAH

That ok? You might want others to comment on the letter before sending it though. Although I think it's pretty good ;)

Send a polite letter to the LL saying that you intend to contact the relevant deposit scheme but you were never given the statutory notification (use that phrase) of which scheme was used, so you require the LL to supply the details now. CC it to the Accommodation Office (and state on the letter that you have done so).

    Mel.
I would like to include this as advised by mel in post #4

    Dear so and so,

I recently moved out of property X Road Name, Town Name.
The house was signed over with the landlord with no problems and told a deposit of £xxx would be returned. The final bills were paid at the bank as requested by landlord. The stamped original bills were then sent by recorded delivery to landlords home address. Four weeks later there is still no sign of the deposit.
I have not heard anything from the landlord about the return of my deposit.

I am now looking to contact the relevant deposit scheme but was never given the statutory notification of which scheme was used, I now require the LL to supply the details.

I do hope you can help me resolve this issue as quickly as possible.

    Yours faithfully,

    BLAH

    Any good?

    Yep thats good! :)

Of course make sure you write your address above the main bulk of the letter so they can contact you ;) or write your mobile number in the letter too.

Just because they think they're above the law doesn't mean they are. If you get a judgment against them and they don't pay, you can get an enforcement order or get the bailiffs sent round, it's well worth doing.

Not in my case, and its the same with many landlords in my area. They all have pretty sneaky methods on hiding from the law. As is the case with this guy

I have made some changes as there are three students and only one is dealing with the landlord and property. The letter now contains plural and singular does this still read okay?
