I agree with blind-as-a-bat.
You should not be refused the basic accounts at barclays or co-op. Unless something has gone amiss. As there is no credit on the account their is no credit check required.
Do check that the right account was applied for. If you are turned down i am sure they should provide a reason, even if it is brief.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

Unfortunately, NastyWest won't touch curent BRs with a very long stickish like stick thing. Not even the step account.

Only the Co-Op and Barclays offer basic accounts to undischarged bankrupts, as it stands.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

Co-op may reject though if you owed them money which went into your BR. However, Barclays don't usually reject even if you owed them money.
They may check the electoral roll so if your oh is not on the ER that may be a reason.
Make sure they are putting you through for a basic account and not a full account.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

Thanks everyone, rang co-op again and was told if we wanted to know why OH was rejected to put it in writing (a job, while i'm at work tomorrow!). Also, tried to look at his credit report but you need to put card details to verify identity...he has no card! Does anyone know how to get around this, i will ring their customer services in the morning and ask. I even tried putting my card details in, thinking that it was just so they had a card to charge, but no joy.
Really frustrating stuff!Don't let your fears stand in the way of your dreams. :A0 -
hey, i had this problem too! i got my credit reports by writing to experian etc and sending them a postal order for £2 with my letter.
if you still have no joy, you could try a managed account which is what i had to do. stupidly i didnt shop around first and the one i ended up with (card one banking) doesnt allow direct debits, standing orders only. ive since found out that think money does a managed account that DOES allow direct debits so im in the middle of switching. its not ideal but its a bank account in the meantime while you sort out any problems that might arise from requesting your credit records.BR as of 10:30am on 27/08/2009Proud BSC member #285Countdown to AD 27/08/2010"When you do nothing, you feel overwhelmed and powerless.
