Hi gj195
I think that both banks have run credit checks when they are not required / should not be done. Did your OH insist that he wanted a Coop Cashminder ?
I had to be quite firm & insist when I arranged mine....they were trying to get me a full current with £1k odraft....& it was approved even though I specifically asked for a full application not to be done!!...but I turned it down of course!
Again I was required to take ID into the Coop branch for verification....then account opened straight away.

Thanks everyone, yes he stated quite clearly he wanted the cashminder and explained that he was bankrupt. I'm just about to start writing to Co-op to ask for the reason why...
Also going to ring experian at 9am, to find out what people without cards are expect to do to view their credit report.Don't let your fears stand in the way of your dreams. :A0 -

Good luck with it.
I guess the way to get a card is to do a prepay one...like Cashplus, Virgin Mastercard etc.

Just spoken to Experian, it's ok to put someone elses card details in. (in this case, mine!) They just don't have instant access to their report. The women said he would receive an email with log in details, usually within 48hrs. They just do extra security checks with it not being the persons card.
With regards to a bank account, He's not desperate for a card, as he's using an old one in his mam's name to get his wages paid into. He's been using this for about 6 months. But problems will arise when he needs to pay cheques in. Plus i think, it'll be better for his frame of mind when he has something in his name.
We're getting there...Don't let your fears stand in the way of your dreams. :A0
