Victory against EDF

Hi everyone,

I receievd a bill form EDF Energy for £1032.00. They said they had been incorrectly charging me for four years..instead of charges me 5 number's they had been charging me four numbers.

Due to a goodwill gesture they said they would wipe out £816 of that amount and only charge me for 12 months.

With this months quarter billing I was to owe them £317.00 but they were happy to spread the amount over 12 months @ £75.00 per month.

I wrote to them displaying my disgust to this as it was their negligence that had caused this error and why should I pay any of this amount when I had been supplying meter reading's and I had put my trust in them as an energy company to bill me correctly.

After a few emails back and fourth they said they would discount £60.00 I disagreed once again saying i was not at fault and would not be paying.

Then after red letters and phone calls demanding money and also a very strong worded email from EDF saying they would not discount and the amount is payable and they would not be dicussing this matter any further I wrote the following letter::::


I am writing with regard to the above complaint. I wrote to you on 21st September 2009 asking you to do wipe the charges from my account that was due to EDF Energy’s negligence that had been ongoing for four years. To resolve this complaint I have given you every opportunity, However, your attempts to resolve the problem have not been satisfactory and you claim that there is nothing more you can do to help me. I feel that we have reached a deadlock situation and, therefore, I am left with no alternative but to take my complaint to the Energy ombudsman.

Please issue me with a letter of deadlock so that I may refer this matter to the Energy ombudsman. If I do not hear from you within 14 days I shall assume that you are in agreement that this case has reached deadlock and I shall refer my complaint about you to the ombudsman without further reference to you.


I recieved an email today and they have not only wiped all the extra monies I owe them but they have also wiped this quarter's gas bill!!! RESULT!!!!!!!!!!

The thing is they where in the wrong and what everyone should know if you follow there complaints precedure and get no where and if you have a genuine case for the
Energy ombudsman then this will cost EDF not you!!!
