Food sealer=TOTAL disaster Help please.

I was bought a JML food sealer (after loads of lusting for one) but am having some problems with it.
I vacuumed a loaf last week and two days later found it covered in mould and loaf shaped(it had collapsed when sealed)
There was also a red pepper that had "re-inflated"(if you see what I mean) but it was fine as I used it when I noticed what had happened to the loaf.
We tested the seal on and found a tiny(invisible to the naked eye)hole so were satisfied this was the causes of the problem.
Anyway, DH bought a couple of wholemeal loaves at the weekend and again we vacuumed them both. We cut then in half so there were four "loaflets" Again they were a very odd shape(like a fat X!) but I wasn't worried as this had happened with the original loaf but it had resumed its shape(admittedly by accident)
Opened one half yesterday afternoon and as I write I have a unusable x shaped mass of yuccky bread(being very kind to it)
Does anyone have any idea of what I am doing wrong and has anyone been successful in vacuuming ANYTHING?
Thanjs for reading this and........HELP.

aaah.. i had a look at it.. see what you mean, but does it actually SAY you can do bread in it.. the pictures are all of solid foods, i would have thought that anything porus would collapse in on itself and as you have found with bread.. stick together into a lump...0

I understand what you mean but I am confused nethertheless because I thought food was sealed this way so it could be frozen down airtight. I expect someone on here will provide a sensible answer I am just sorry it isn't me.Mortgage and Debt free but need to increase savings pot. :think:0

It is, but you can also vacuum it to make it stay fresh longer. Unfortunately sucking the air out of the bag does squash soft things like bread. You also need thick bags otherwise they don't seal properly and reflate.0 -
Do you think perhaps the bread should have been wrapped and frozen BEFORE being 'vacuumed'
?

Like you I bought a JML vacuum sealer after longing for one for ages and it was the biggest disappointment ever. I think it's probably ok if you just want to seal things to freeze, it stops them getting freezer burn, but as far as keeping fresh stuff fresh mine was a dead loss. I do know it's only supposed to be used for solid stuff though, and bread being full of air will either squash down to nothing or still be full of air.
I gave up in the end and sent it back for a refund (I bought it from Betterware, not direct from JML) but they claimed never to have received it and refused to do anything about it. After several weeks of letters and phone calls I wrote it off to experience. Lesson learned - I will avoid JML products and Betterware in future. (Sorry, I know that's totally irrelevant to your problem but it makes me feel better to have a little moan!)Oh dear, here we go again.0 -

Yes on the box it states the shelf life for vacuumed bread is 8-10 months at room temperature.Blind as you run...aware you were staring at the sun.

Sadly, no spare space. Have a sliced yellow stickered loaf(for when only thick toast will do) and some home made rolls.
I just hoped by vacuuming stuff I would expand my storage options.Blind as you run...aware you were staring at the sun.
