First of all, sorry... I know this supposed to be a bargain board, not a griping board, but I feel obliged to withdraw my earlier recommendation of Currys for PCs following my experience of their service.
I ordered a PC in early December, for which Currys took a 10% deposit, sent a receipt and arranged credit. However, after being assured many, many times over the phone that everything was fine and my PC should be with me for Christmas, I finally found out on 29/12 that it is actually out of stock and showing no "due in" date. (Given that it has also disappeared from the website, I think it's safe to assume the model has been discontinued.)
Since then I have been waiting for a phone call from head office to discuss the possibility of sending an alternative model, but in spite of constant assurances that my case was going to be treated as a priority, I have had no such phone call - and the aftersales people won't even give out a phone number for head office to let me contact them directly!
So, I'm left in a position where a deposit has been taken and a direct debit for credit payments is in place, yet I don't even know what PC I'm going to be getting (or even if I'll be getting one at all).
I will keep you posted if anything improves, but as things stand I would have to say avoid Currys like the plague.

sorry to say this, but serves you right for buying a PC from the Dixons Stores Group!!!!
cancel everything, DEMAND (you kick up a lot of sh@t and mention trading standards), and totally ignore it when they say that they cant offer compensation, THEY CAN and they did when i worked there many moons ago.
contact the local press too if you have to, they're lapping up these sob sob xmas stories right now!
once everythings done and dusted, do a runner and go elsewhere, preferably a small local shop or a large mail order place like dabs
dont be fooled, DSG support is a LOT worse than a lot of the mail order places, money saving my @rse.
I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)
