I bought an 18v from Focus for £15 about 2 weeks ago... Dont know whether it was a Bank Holiday special or not. It came in the black case with lots of drills and the battery. Seems to work ok (has reverse and hammer action)I'm Glad to be here... At my age I'm glad to be anywhere!!

It depends how often and for what you're using it. If you want something to screw a few screws in then just about anything on the market will do.
On the other extreme, if you want something that will put a 6 inch screw through 6 inches of hardwood then look no further than the DeWalt 24v non sds hammer drill.
I have both ends of the spectrum. I cannod fault the DeWalt and if it wasn't so heavy I would probably not have bought the Ryobi 18v twin pack I have.
I don't know if you can still get this piece of kit but for around the £100 mark I got the 18v twin pack from Ryobi. They are slightly better than the likes of Black and Decker. This comes with 2 drills, both 18v cordless. One is a proper little handymans hammer drill, the other is more of a driver. They both have adjustable torque settings IIRC. Also included are 2 batteries and a charger. They are very much aimed at the DIY market, though Travis Perkins did sell them, a move I suspect they regret as a lot of tradesmen bought them expecting to cover the same ground as the Dewalts and Makitas.
My set suffered a duff battery recently at 8 months after purchase, plus I was worried about a lot of headt being generatied in the bac of one drilll. I returned the whole lot to the place I bought them and they sent it away for assessment and repair. I wated 3 weeks to get it back, which did not impress me. however they appeared to have replaced both batteries. I haven't checked the condition of the problem drill yet though.
