I am posting this on behalf of my friend - in June she fell and has a major tear in her cruciate ligament, she has recently gone through an operation and is having weekly physiotherapy however she has been advised she needs another operation and recovery time will be approx a year.
She is now unable to work as she is struggling to walk unaided and previously worked as a personal carer for the local authority council however this was only as bank staff so gets no sick pay.
Would she be entitled to any benefits or help in the coming months as she is really struggling financially with no income?
Thanks in advance for any help and advice.

worthwhile contacting local JCP - might be entitled to Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) or Disability Living Allowance (DLA). Also, possible entitlement to Income Support or Job Seekers.0

masonsmum, can we get some more info please?
Does she have a partner or live alone? Does she have a mortgage or rent?
Has she been working regularly over the past few years, and if so, how many hours a week?Gone ... or have I?0 -
Hi - she has a partner has been used to a joint income, 2 children still in full time education and a mortgage.
She worked since leaving school as a self employed hairdresser and then last year started a social care course at college and started with local authority as a bank personal carer on an as and when required basis however only done this for a few weeks before the accident.0
