Your thoughts please on fundraising idea
Options
Hi, my partner and I support various small charities, and we do the usual fundraising things like boot sales, sponsored events etc., but had the idea to 'steal' a suggestion from Jamie Oliver and hold some charity suppers. The idea is that we host a supper, probably three course meal with BYO wine, asking for donations at the end of the meal to the charity. Jamie advertised his event inline, and we'd probably do the same (only we have no clue how to 'blog'). So, is this a good idea? Do you think people would come? Would you go to a local event like this? How best to advertise?
Thanks all:D

This is not a new idea - fundraising suppers are a staple of the fundraisers weaponry. However, you have to ask yourself whether anyone would attend an event unless (a) they were very interested in the cause or (b) they knew you and that they would get a jolly good mal on the night. I dont think that advertising a dinner cooked by Sam (unless you are well known locally for your good grub) in aid of three random charities would be much of a draw.
I would concentrate on just one charity and get help from their fundraising dept. Offer something on top of the food, eg a celeb guest, auction of promises, music£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0
