Work placement expenses

My son has been offered a work placement quite a distance from where he lives. There did not seem many others on offer to him. The cost of travel will be about £40 a week. Are there any funds available to help with this?

Is this part of his degree type placement? Or what?

Yes. It is an 8 week placement as part of a journalism course. It could last longer though.
  • Is he getting paid during this? He may be eligible for the student loan, but I'm not entirely certain.

You are only entitled for student loan for yearly things. Is your son already getting student loans? I'm assuming he is taking 8 weeks out of his semester at university and working there instead?

If so, surely he has this years loans as it is?
