  • Of course you can close the account. - Bring the balance down to zero and say, you want to close it.

So what in particular has changed that makes you want to take such OTT and drastic action?

(considering that an account holder can cancel their account at anytime once a balance is cleared)
  • Well, actually you are right! My balance is Zero, Zero! I always pay off my bill in full (great having the advantage to pull a investment to the next payday, but thats the max I want to use), so I can cancel anyway...

Sorry for the stupid question, its way too early. I guess I am just looking for a reason. I have tried to cancel my Cap1 CC over the phone... Its scary how they speak to you and try to convince you to stay...

Just keep repeating "I'd like to cancel my card" whenever they start a sentence that sounds like that's exactly what they're not doing. :)
    Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries

I've also asked a question about Cap1 CC as they have changed the policy re holiday cover that has really got me worried now.. Will we no longer be covered under Section 75? It says you have to pay 75% of holiday to be covered for cancelation.. (i think )

The holiday insurance scheme has absolutely nothing to do with the CCA 2006.

You now have to pay up to 75% or more of your total price with your Capital One card to obtain 'free' holiday insurance.
If you don't, then you won't get the cover, BUT you will ALWAYS have CCA protection cover providing you didn't use a credit card cheque to pay for it.
  • You can cancel a credit account at any time. You're not obliged to keep them open.

Thanks exel1966 - I'd got myself in a real panic - this has put my mind at rest. I always had seperate holiday insurance from Alliance Benefit anyway. I thought it meant a change in the section 75 holiday "cost" cover.. I had only paid £10 on the credit card over the phone, no cheque..

    Thanks again :A
