Need to buy a car for work - Help
Im not sure if I am posting in the right place, so if not apologies. The days of my company car have come to an end and I will be getting an allowance to provide my own car, leased or bought. I do a fair amount of mileage about 25,000 a year and am not sure the best route to take
Being completely new to buying a car which will be one I wouldnt want to buy personally as I will need a large car possibly a Vauxhall Vectra or equiv. Any good web sites , best places to buy a car new or ex demo or lease sights would be really appreciated.
Thanks

If you can sort out the finance, I can heartily recommend a nearly new from a car supermarket. They're cheap 'cause someone else has taken the initial depreciation hit and will still have some manufacturer's warranty on them.
A couple of things to watch for:
1) Test drive and decide on the make(s) and model(s) before you go, you may not get a long test drive in the car you select.
2) Really look around the car well for any problems and agree any repair work before paying your deposit. Nearly new cars shouldn't need much though, if any.
3) Watch out for ex-rentals. Some year old cars have come from a rental company and have probably been misused. I personally don't think they should be ignored, but they should be checked very carefully for damage inside and out. If the price is right though...
I've just bought a 2.5 year old large car from a supermarket and I'm very happy with my choice. :T Having said that, I could have got a 9 month old car of the same size for 10% less if I was willing to take the risk with an ex-rental.0 -
Thanks. Can you tell me where the car supermarkets are? Am based in Scotland and there are none near me. I would be willing to travel to view, do they have web sites?
Sorry for all the questions but your advice sounds just what Iam after0 -
When spending your allowance don't forget you now have to pay for tyres, insurance, maintenance etc etc I had an ex colleague who committed the whole allowance amount to a personal lease and got a real shock when he had to pay for a windscreen less than a month into his contract.
If you still have a fleet manager in your company they should be able to fix up some test drives with the models you are considering. It is good to use the car for a real workday before deciding if the boot is big enough or the engine has enough power.
Good Luck....0 -

Try https://www.motorpoint.co.uk a few people I know have bought there, you can even sort it out over the phone if you want. There is one in Glasgow, you can pick any car they have from any of there sites, and they will transport it to your nearest Motorpoint site.0
