hi i'm after so advice
i brought a laptop from comet August 08 took the 2 year cover plan out on it as well,
3 and a half weeks ago the charger port became lose, So dropped my laptop into store, all the paper work for it to be sent off was already done as i rang the customer services so had a job number,
so they said it would be back by the 24th so Ive rang them today, to find out that it has been written off, And was on the 10th September, I havent heard anything from them at all. So i didn't know until i rang them. Ive been waiting for my laptop to come back all this time, And i now find out that its been written of no contact has been made from them even about getting a new one. which i think is really bad. And all that was wrong with it was the charging port is loose. Ididn't back anything backup off my laptop as for something as simple as that i though it would be repaired. On there website and on insurance policy it say
"If we cannot repair your product or we decide it is beyond economical repair we will provide you with a New for old replacement"
But it was not.
Also i found out today that as they written off the old laptop. the insurance policy is void which i guess i kinda expected, But i had paid £169 i think, for 3 years, and they've written it off within 13 months. i know its how this things work, But want i want to know is surly they should have made contact with me to tell me that they have written it off. How long so i expect to wait for a new laptop ofvouchers for a new one, Bearing in mind the wrote it off 10th.

Sorry if I seem unsympathetic, but what's the problem? If they're giving you a new laptop, why the complaints? Do you really want to argue with them that you're not entitled to a new laptop?
You're the one who didn't bother to back up your work, so you can't complain about that.
True they could have contacted you when the laptop was written off, but unless they actually undertook to do so, why would you think that they would? It would be nice if big high-street chains would give customer service above and beyond what is required, but they don't.
Be happy you've got a new laptop. :beer: Ask Comet how long you should expect to wait for your vouchers, and if you think it's too long, complain about that instead of complaining about getting a new machine.0 -
ALWAYS back up your laptop data before sending it anywhere, regardless of the problem.
I would phone them up, explain you didn't back up your data, grovel, and beg them to put the hard drive onto a CD for you.
ps - you BOUGHT (buy) the laptop from Comet, not brought (bring).Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')

I don't know how Comet work, but for us (Currys), if you have a replacement during the life of an agreement, you get an additional voucher as a pro-rata refund to buy a new agreement withSquirrel!If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you.
