Halifax student overdraft

My daughter has been told by Halifax that her student overdraft is not being renewed this year ( it is her third year) we thought it was to last the full three years, how is she expected to pay it when she is still a student, she is now very worried.

  • I received a similar letter in March. When I called them asking why, I was told that I could have it renewed by speaking to staff at one of their branches. Guess they just wanted to check that I still needed it, etc.

They renewed and increased my overdraft when I spoke to them! They also said that I'd need to do this next year as well (maybe it's something new they've introduced?)

Anyway, call them tomorrow and check. :)
  • Nice to know they're telling people about this now. *has had lots of hoo-ha with Halifax for not telling her when the student account that they made her get ran out*

I'd ring them up and see what you can do - when I went in to see about mine they were very helpful and changed it no problem. You might have to get a letter from the university saying 'Jenny Smith [or whatever] is on X course until such a date' but that should be relatively simple.
