I have uploaded about 500 jpeg files to a cd disc ( CD-R ) but whilst i was editing them, just cropping in and centering them I lost power to my laptop and the disc now says that its empty, however you can see that there are files written on it. Also when checking the properties it say its a full disc and no free space left. Can anyone shed some light on how I can get these files back. I had deleted them from my sd card as I needed to use it again. The disc had been closed when I had uploaded the files to it first time as I had removed it from the drive put it back in to check they had been written, when I do it know it asks me what I want to do as the disc is "empty". These Photos are really important ones that I need to get back. Thanks in advance TM

have you another Drive? the CD might not be compatable with the drive, thus happily burns the files then cant read them, I had that problem with my Sony writer and some cheapo CDRs
if you was burning when the power when down it would have trashed the discSurvey earnings total 2009 £417, 2010 £875, 2011 £5740 -
undelete them from the sd card or hard disk using restoration, recuva etc.
if that doesn't work, try this

I was saving the new files as I was going along with the editing when the power was lost I thought I might have lost that particular file but not the whole disc. I've never tried "undeleting before can you give me any more instructions? I have 2 cards that I was using and have taken more photos on one of them. If I can get some of them back it will be great, I was taking photos for a friends son who was racing motorbikes today, he had a great result and I am so annoyed with myself for losing the photos that I promised him.0

if you lost power before the disc was "closed" there is very little chance of reading the files even if you can see them in file explorer. As a previous responder said, your best hope is recovering them from the SD card. Recuva is good as is one called something like pc inspector smart recover. Whatever you do, don't write anything new to the card until you have recovered the pictures0

It looks like you put the files on the CD the first time and closed the current session - but left the disk open rather than finalising it (otherwise you wouldn't have been able to edit it). When you were editing the files, I assume it was writing a second session onto the CD - things aren't deleted on multi-session CD's, it just re-writes the new version into the next session and adjusts the index to point to the new file.
If you are lucky, it may be just the second session that has been corrupted - the original one could still be intact, but isn't showing because the index is corrupt.
I would try isobuster as Closed suggested, but definately don't write anything else to the SD cards at the moment.
Isobuster may allow you to copy the files from the first session.0 -
Thanks guys I will try that tomorrow, with a clear head and better focus.
Many thanks

Thank you so much I used the recuva programme, I think i found most of them. Its amazing what else i found as well no wonder my laptop is so slow, and has no virtual memory left.
Thanks again TM0
