I assume poor Pete wasn't familiar with the ettiquette on flags in certain areas of Ireland/Northern Ireland/Ulster?How does a brown cow give white milk, when it only eats green grass?0

The term tricolour is used to refer to any flag made up of 3 coloured bands. Wether its the Irish flag or the french flag or indeed the Kenyan flag.
So if someone refers to the Tricolour in the context of someone buying a flag in Northern Ireland surely we can assume he/she is referring to the national flag of ireland and not the french tricolour? How does a brown cow give white milk, when it only eats green grass?0 -
How does that make him rude (or should that be rud)?

You would have to been there to know he was being rude to us.miserly_mum wrote: »
Having said that its a bit like going into a souvenir shop in the South of Ireland and being surprised that they don't stock red hand of ulster flags
Pete thought with all the St. Patrick gift items being sold, that there would have been a St. Pat's flag also.moneysaving relevance?.........

all those wee souvenir shops are dear holes.
Sorry Pretani you didn't mention the other St Patrick stuff in your original post so in that case I can understand why your friend asked about the flag
I remember being out for the day with my MIL and her wanting to buy a teddy for my son in one of those souvenir shops. She had no specs on and she asked the shop assistant what the green thing on the bears t-shirt was.
He replied that it was a Shamrock. She immediately threw the bear down and stormed out muttering not very politically correct things.
This is one of the very many reasons we call her "Loyalist Lorna"
Nothing to do with flags but it makes me laugh everytime I remember it.How does a brown cow give white milk, when it only eats green grass?0
