Debt relief order advice, please help !

Hi, I have been thinking of applying for a debt relief order for a whilr now, but the whole thing scares me and I need some advice of someone whos done it. I have checked online and beleive I qualify for this, but I am scared of making a wrong decision, I cant afford to pay off my debts at all and there just getting worse, I have a CCJ now and I am wondering if the DRO will effect my credit further or now that I have a CCJ its as bad as its going to get anyway ? Also are there any restrictions on people with DRO, I have visions of being watched like a hawk for the next year, or am I being silly ? Can anyone offer some advice

    Hi PL1066 & welcome.

The first thing is to contact CAB/ Nat Debtline/CCCS & find out if you qualify ....the criteria is quite strict I believe.

There is a sticky at the top of this board...have a good read & I am sure that someone who has done a DRO will be able to help you.

Maybe post more details about your situation & there will be folks on here that can help... first thing is to contact one of the debt charities.

    Good luck, Angiexx
  • Thanks I will do that :-)
  • I found it easy and straightforward, and no you are not watched like a hawk. Had DRO for 4 months now and no further contact with anyone, so i expect it to remain the same till the 12 months are up, as my circumstances won't change.

Go for it and good luck.
