Sky digital - certain free channels not working

Recently Ive noticed that my sky system has stopped showing certain channels that are normally free to air.

Channels such as SKY3, ITV4, Ch5, etc etc are not working most of the time- I get a message saying signal not found. Sometimes if I wait long enough the channel may start working but thats if Im really lucky! Other channels like sky news, bbc1 etc are always perfect.

I havent fiddled with any settings etc and def not moved my dish.

Any advice?

I have also found this to be the case, I also don't know what it is....i thought it was the channel it self or the sky dish.

I had this a last year. Started out intermittant and then got worse. Turned out that the the reciever on the dish itself had gone. I got a local company to replace it. I can't remember how much it was as I had some other work done at the same time. I think the part was £20-40.

Its probably your card...most channels are free to air (FTA) however. some (channel 4, etc) are free to view (FTV) and for those channels you need the sky card with the house on.

I know someone who's got the card with the house on but cannot get the FTV channels, however; I've been informed that if you place an active sky card (pay to view) into the box you usually use a free view card it will update the box and when you place your sky card back in it will work alright. I've not tested this yet so I don't know if it works...I was also told that if you remove the card, the FTV channels will not be available until you reinsert an active card

This sounds very much what other people were talking about on another Sky thread,
Signal not found has nothing to do with cards this is purely weak signal,
Other people have been saying that they have found that some of their channels are not as clear as they used to be,
People have suggested that Sky have loweredthe signal strength on some of the channels so that you get a pixleated picture,
this is due to the massive campaign by sky to get people to buy Sky HD.

THIS IS OTHER PEOPLES OPINION AND IN NO WAY SAYS THIS IS ACTUALLY WHATS HAPPENING,

but it doe make you think
