no sound on pc/tv connection

Hi all, hope you can help me with this

I have just connected my pc to my tv using an hdmi wire but although i get a picture i cannot get any sound...anyone know what i am doing wrong?

Several possible reasons depending on what hardware your PC has (graphics and sound cards).

Is it a direct HDMI connection from PC to TV or is it something else at the PC end such as VGA or DVI. If it is one of the latter, you will probably need a separate audio cable.

i have just plugged an hdmi wire from my pc into the back of my tv...if i plug my pc speakers in i get sound but they are rubbish..wanted the sound to come through the tv

your sound setting turned on for the HDMI connection. If its not that might be why your getting it out the sound card, Check the advanced settings it might be hidden in the list of audio devices,

hmmm not sure if the sound setting for the hdmi is on...How do i check this?? sorry i am clueless lol..where are the advanced settings?

To progress this you need to clarify what equipment you have, as this will make a big difference to a solution. What operating system, and either Laptop make/model or PC graphics card make/model.
