It would be illegal for them to charge the full £20 to your card, if the check-out final price (when you typed your card details in) showed £0.
They couldn't charge you £2 (even though most of us i'm sure would be happy with that) for the same reason.
What they would have to do, is contact you, and probably cancel the order.
Now.. why in gods name would a company implement their shopping basket to allow orders like that to be processed, then later require cancellation? It removes the stock from the website (preventing other purchases), and makes no sense to me. All they needed to do was to ensure the £2 delivery charge wasn't removed when you applied the voucher.
The whole thing doesn't make much sense to me... lots of head scratching going on.
They'll either lose money on 99% of the orders, or they'll have to cancel them. They can't just decide not to bother redeeming the voucher and charge the full basket amount prior to the addition of the voucher.0 -
They have a 24/7 customer services number, 0161 4440638 - press 2 for customer services.
They can cancel your order, or change items very easily. They even resent me a new voucher as each voucher can only be used once.
Hope this helps. Die 0870!0 -
Thank you very much for this, I have just spent £30 but used the £20 off, OH will be pleased0

Well, I called them and they said that there will be a £2 minimum charge regardless.
Whether your final amount shows as £0, £-1, or whatever... the voucher will never cover delivery regardless of what was shown when you entered your credit card number.
Now, I am quite happy to pay £2 for a delivery worth £18-20, but, I am still convinced this is completely illegal.
At the end of the day, I have the following in writing on my receipt:
"Total price of your order: £0.00".
I'll probably get lynched for saying this... but...
"chargebacks" anyone?0 -
That is just taking the proverbial
Anyway - Sillychuckie admitted he actually only has about 17 anyway, because many of them were duplicated. And since none of these will be honoured I don't see it being a problem. It's obviously meant to be £20 off with a minimum spend of about £50 so I expect we'll all see the cancellation emails from about 10am onwards this morning. You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -
thank you
i remember when they did this last for £5 with free delivery. they were letting you use the same email address then too. i got every order i placed

I'm not really sure whats gonna happen. The bloke on the phone reckoned we would probably be charged atleast £2, but didnt sound very sure.
It was as if the idea of a £20 promotion was entirely new to him.
I still can't see them charging the full basket price (e.g. £18) when the final amount demanded at the time of entering your card was different.
I expect a cancellation email or two also. Even charging just the £2 delivery wouldn't be legal.
If they charge anything more than that, I'll be printing the receipts and going straight to my bank.
If they left a statement off the terms, that really is a monumental mistake. Even though they can easily cancel the orders, its still extra work and probably an overall loss to them due to the stock being tied up (assigned to) orders that go on to be cancelled.
biglugs: thanks for your forgiveness.0 -

you have to call them up within 24 hrs , if you dont ur order is automatically cancelled?0 -
I've placed 2 orders using the codes.
On 1 order I had £21 to pay after the discount - this order is showing up in my online order history as an "error". The other order had Zero to pay, but this is showing up on my order history as full price  . Now that's potentially £60+ of undies I didn't really want!0 -
ive just checked mine because of that and its only taken off the 10% hasnt taken off the £20 - surely they cant just do that
worst comes to worst it says free returns and u loose the £2 deliveryYes Your Dukeiness0
