Any experiences with *USB* KVM switches?

I wonder whether anyone has any experience with KVM switches which use the USB and VGA video ports on up to four PCs, and can switch a single screen, USB keyboard and USB mouse to any one of them, reliably?

It is becoming almost impossible to get PS/2 mouse and keyboard ports on new PCs, and so switching USB ports seems to be the only practical solution, if you want to avoid having PS/2-to-USB (or vice versa) converters (which I do!)...

Thanks

John

Eh? Where are you getting your PC's from?

    I don't think I've ever seen a PC without PS2 ports

Some of the new Dell pc's dont have LPT ports or PS2 ports just a load of USB ports. and a VGA port. not even a serial port.

real pain in the !!!!!! when you are replacing pc's that are a few years old using external modems and parallel printers. I hate using usb ports for mouse and keyboard espcially when there are ps2 ports that cant be used for anything else other than mice and keyboards.

ohh and USB KVM no idea, I havnt needed to use one yet.

The Dell Optiplexes we buy don't have PS/2 mouse or keyboard ports (I think I would have noticed if they had...) but they do have a parallel and a serial socket. They always have a VGA port, and the larger ones have a DVI port for a digital monitor. I've added a picture of the back view of a Dell Optiplex GX620 MiniTower.
