Hi, I get loads of junk mail from banks, loans companies, mortgages ect (probally thanks to this forum  )

But, does anyone know how to get of these mailings ?

Can you just post it back to the undelivered address and will it stop ?

Your opinions would be appriciated :)

Just as you can register with the telephone preference service to stop unwanted phone calls, you can also register to stop junk mail - go onto the telephone preference service website to register.

I send all my junk mail back to the sender in their own pre paid envelope.
Sometimes i add a few smart comments to brighten up the day of the poor soul who has to sift through all the rubbish, and sometimes I'll send them one of my kids old drawings or paintings and ask them if they would like more junk mail. It costs me nothing to send them, but it costs the company money to send, receive reply, postage costs and the wage of the recipient.

Gives me a warm feeling to know its money well spent ;)

I don't know, I only opted to sign up for the telephone preference service, which does work, although since I went over to talk talk it seems that I have started getting a few more of the calls (but only a few, nothing like before). Although I get fed up with junk mail, I think there may just be something of interest in it one day!

All prepaid envelopes are returned, complete with a spoonful of my pet rabbits droppings.
They never take notice, but I feel a little better about it.

http://www.mpsonline.org.uk allows you to register. It seems pretty genuine as you can even complain through the site if you do receive junk after registering.

Can't vouch for whether it works - I only registered this morning.

    Mortgage-free Glee!
i had a maths teacher who had a cardboard box. all junk mail went into it. then once a year he'd pick out one lucky recipient from all the junk mail. if they had a freepost type address, they'd get the box. probably made no difference but it was fun! :D

Hi there. Just thought I'd say:

I registered with the Mail Preference Service over a year ago and it most definitely DOES work! It takes about 2-3 months for the bulk of the garbage to dwindle away but now I don't get a thing! No more credit card applications, no more loan offers, and no more bloody "Solar Panel Heating" brochures! Just lovely, lovely freedom when I get home from work and DON'T stumble over a whole heap of crap-mail :j

Get registering - you'll not regret it!

    Best regards to all. :hello:
