Credit Score dramatically changed????

Options
Help, My credit score was 'Fair' at 751 and overnight changed to 421 and I know thats very bad, the worst in fact. The only change I can see in the report on line is Barclays have recorded a '1' highlighted in yellow for Sept 09 stating a missed or late payment. It wasn't missed or late and I doubled checked this with my statement. I also notice that i am not on the electoral roll, I don't know why as I have lived at the same address for 14yrs. Would this stop me getting a new mortgage? we are trying to sell and move to the country. I have filled in the electoral roll inclusion form and posted it off today but what can i do about Barclays???

I ahve made a few applications in the past few weeks for credit cards as i want a good card to transfer to, has this affected my rating???

more and more lenders are now saying that they will not lend to anyone not on the electoral roll. so get on there PDQ - re Barclays - go in and talk to them - take evidence to show your timely payments

I missed a credit card payment in July. i thought I'd paid it online but the transaction ddin't go through and I had a missed payment showing on my credit file the month i applied for a mortgage (not a good look!)- the 1st missed payment in more than 10 yrs. I put a notice of correction on my file (ring Creditexpert to do this) and was accepted for a mortgage.

of course there will be lots of other factors which will affect your application such as amount of equity in your house etc but you can investigate why barclays have done this and they may remove it.

VKay, thanks. I rang barclaycard and they told me that I was over my limit by £120 and my direct debit was only set up to take the minimum payment so technically I was in arrears. I can't understand? I tried to reason with the man but there was a language barrier and he was not quite getting it. He told me that barclaycard do not have the power to remove this from my credit file. I am not overdue or missed a payment. I paid the overlimit amount there and then but he still was not shifting. What will i do?

I had trouble too as the man I was talking too didn't understand some of the questions I asked.

Try ringing the number on the back of the card- I got through to a British call centre then.

Don't give up- I believe they DO have the power to remove it. Only IF they want to though. If they deem it was your fault the money didn't reach them, they wont remove it. This happened to me.

Ensure your direct debit gets sorted out so it pays the full amount ( I need to do this too!) and concentrate on repairing your credit score by being very careful about paying everything on time for the next few months.

    Good luck!
