Selling Internationally - What is the best method?

Hi, I currently sell a few items on Ebay and ship worldwide.

To increase success should I for example target Australia by listing the item on https://www.ebay.com.au or should I stick to https://www.ebay.co.uk and hope the Aussies bother to look through international listings?

What do you think?

well if you make your auctions available to worldwide then they will appear in search listings if people in other countries want to buy from abroad.

i think the problems if you start listing on other country's ebay sites are that buyers expect u to be in their country and dont understand the high shipping rates, the time taken to recieve items - as i find a lot of US people buy my stuff on ebay and then wonder why it takes a week to get to them
 Democracy is a process by which the people are free to choose the man who will get the blame.:j

I agree totally with cleo. I used to list on ebay.com and frankly it wasn't worth the hassle as US buyers didn't see my location that just assumed i was in the US and expected their goods by return. You've also got slight payment problems in that you will receive payment, even paypal through foreign currencies and have to withdraw each currency to your bank account seperately. I also found the post and packing element difficult (but it might just be because I am blonde) as of course shipping to the country you are listed in is 'home' and shipping to the UK where you actually are is 'overseas'/

  • OK thanks for the replies. Do you think it is worth translating titles or descriptions to try to break into foreign markets? I do appreciate that much of the world can read English, but what if they search ebay in their own language there is a good chance they will miss the item.
