Comet urgggggggghhhhhhhhhhh

I am really despairing with comet and my washing machine and not sure if they are time wasting as it is about to come out of 1 year guarantee

I bought my machine on 6th October last year and all was fine until about 6 weeks ago, when it started making the most awful noise when spinning. So called them out and waited 4/5 days, out comes an engineer who tells me that the bearings have gone and that he would come back in about a weeks time with the new part, but would recieve a phone call, well no call came and I called about 6 days later to be told they would be with me in 2 days time if the part came in but I would recieve a call to confirm, no call came and the engineer turned up unextected with a whole new drum, which he fitted, leaving a huge puddle of water on the kitchen floor - he did not ask for anything to mop up with, and he demonstrated the machine empty. of he trots and for about 7 days it works fine then the same problem reoccurs, ring again and had to wait about 10 days as they had no appointment, well hubby waited in yesterday while i was at a bootsale, I told him that the engineer was not to leave until he had put a load in and spun it to see if the noise was still there - but he did not listen and engineer told hime that the drum had not been aligned correctly and would now be ok.
He left around 11.40 and I arrived home at 1.40 and hubby told me that he had left without testing as I had asked - to say I was cross was an understatement- so in goes some dry washing to test and put just on spin - the noise was just as bad if not worse, so straight on the phone to comet to tell them how impressed i was having to call them back less than 4 hours after their engineer had left - and now they can't come back until Friday - but If i can stand the noise i could use the machine until then (really need this as my son swims 10 sessions a week and 2 gymn session along with my 4 gymn session towels are washed every day - along with general washing). So later on after i had eaten and rested on goes a load, the machine still works well and is fine until it spins - except now it is leaking water all over my kitchen floor - rang comet again but they had gone home!!! I will be ringing them sunday morning at 10 am asking for them to come back before friday - to say I am not pleased is certainly an understatement

io would have demanded a replacment - considering their inability to fix the machine if not then a refund and get them to collect it and brought it from a more reputable supplier and aftersales service like john lewis who will price match

Repairs should be done in a reasonable timescale and without causing significant inconvenience. There's no official definition as to what constitutes these, but you may want to plead your case with them.

If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
    Now 20% cooler
  • By any chance would it be a Hotpoint machine ?
We got through 2 of these in rapid succesion -they just seemed to last until the guarentee expired.

Well If i was pi***d off with comet before then they are top of my hit list now. The engineer returned on Friday to tell my hubbie that there was absolutely nothing wrong with the machine - so hubby insisted that they spin a load of washing - oh we'll get you a new machine, delivered and plumbed in on Monday. Great I thought at last.

So today I sat in all day, no delivery, I rang them at 4pm to find out that they had never even ordered me a new machine and no I would not be getting one today. I really lost it with them, and the girl spoke to the service centre on the other line and promised me faithfully that the manager would contact me TODAY. Well 2 hours later and I rang them I just knew it would not be good. Oh the managers shift has finished and they have gone home - I really lost it with them. The least that I should have expected is a call to say we are trying to sort it out mrs..... but I can do no more until tomorrow, although I would not have been pleased i would have accepted it BUT NO PHONE CALL THEY HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO CUSTOMER SERVICE, PROMISED ME FAITHFULLY (again) THEY WOULD PHONE ME TOMORROW - WELL GUESS WHAT I WON'T HOLD MY BREATH...... cos i would be well and truly dead by the time they ring
