for a number of months have been looking at the "convectaire" video on youtube. I am wondering if they are any better than my standard convector heaters? I try to see though the fog of advertising but even this gets my interest, especially the Delta T bit.

I have looked at similar dimplex models online and seen they start at about £60, are they worth it? Just seems to be a normal convector heater with the exhaust on the front rather than the top.

What, if anything am I missing? Are they worth the extra £, why are they extra £?

Im usually pretty clued on on these things but just need to know if I am missing something?

(edit) - I already have cheap wall mounted convection heaters with top venting grills

It all marketing rubbish, all electric heaters are 100% efficient in converting electrical energy into heat.
What you may find is that some have better thermostatic controls than others to maintain a steady temperature in your room.
Electrical Storage heaters can be cheaper to run as they charge overnight on cheap rate electricity.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

Yeah I'm pretty clued up and know all electric heaters at 100% efficient. What I find interesting is the "wasted heat against the wall" scene, makes sense but is it worth it?

IIR the demo had the exterior temperature at 30 degrees F, ( - 1 Celsius ), I don't think there was much in the way of insulation outside the box either, this may have had some effect. There are other fan assisted convectors on the market, Delonghi make them for one.

  • Good point I didn't think of the room/box's insulation. From what I can make out the front facing vents naturally push the air into the middle of the room rather than allowing it to escape out the top of a heater (as the baseboard heater in the video) and warming the cold wall. Im wondering would it really save 27% sounds too convincing.
