    :( poor badger

I dread the day when I can't avoid hitting something. I stopped my car the other night to make sure a hedgehog got across safely :o

    Hope you get it sorted

The information you suggested is what they will want, it is often handy to get your driving licence out as they sometimes want the number and the courtesy car provider may want to see it (Plus the paper counterfoil).

I would not volunteer the information about the pictures at this point as sometimes they want to see them and it can delay the claim. If there is a need for the pictures at a later date you can always send them over then

I'd be taking a picture of the poor badger just in case the insurance company did dispute the claim.

    Just joking.

Nothing like some tasty roadkill to put you off your food!

Thanks so much for your posts.
  • If you are paying for one on your policy, then 'INSIST' you have one. My car took over a week to be fixed.
Tip-make sure you double check before you sign the paperwork that the courtesy car has no scratches/dents
Loved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!

Good point, some credit hire companies/garages have attempted to claim for scratches by claiming that they were not present when hirer signed for it.

Unfortunately, it is indeed a fault claim. If a dog (which had an owner) ran out in front of the car you could sue the owner but as badgers do not have owners, it is fault. Stray dog ran out in front of me once and the insurers wanted an extortionate excess (due to being a young driver) so it worked out cheaper to repair myself and saved me my NCD as insurers usually only disallow if they have paid any disbursements.

    Again, thanks for the help
  • A friend of mine said I should have reported the incident to the police as badgers are endangered? Don’t know if this is true.

That is the recommended procedure but all they'd have done is made a report about it and maybe do a breath test.
