Nursery shop gone bust - what do I do?

Hi,

This is my first post - I really need some help.

My wife is expecting any time now. We bought all our nursery furniture, car seat, nursing rocking chair, pram, etc from a shop called All Seasons in north London (Finchley) - they used to have a website "1stopbabyshop.co.uk". The order was placed over the phone on our credit card. We received some of the order and kept being promised the rest would arrive soon. However, after a week of not being able to get through to them - turns out they have gone bust (confirmed by calling shops next door who said they had a closing down sale 2 weeks ago). The problem is there is still around £750 worth of goods outstanding, but we never received a receipt - it was all done on the phone.

What do I do?

    It's all about section 75 protection!
    Don't worry it's not going to get too complicated. All this stems from Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974, which is about 'credit giving' cards, and that's why this protection is sexily named "Section 75". As when you spend on a credit card, you're effectively entering into an arrangement to borrow (even if you pay off in full) then you get these rights, and this is why you don't get the same rights with debit cards.

    Something to note: if something is not supplied by the retailer and you can only get it from another source at a higher price you are legally entitled to claim the extra cost from your credit card company.
