I have a Halixfax "The Little Xtra Club" Savings Account, which was opened by a family friend, and held in trust for me, the account booklet I have has my name and address printed on the inside. When I turned 18, I went to my local Halifax Branch, who informed me that I was not entitled to withdraw the monies without the consent of the Trustee. I have since learnt that the trustee of my account has passed away, which was not made aware to my family as we lost touch some years ago.
I therefore, require advice on how I can go about releasing the funds held on my behalf by Halifax. I have furthermore, learnt that the estate of my trustee was left to his son, who I am not in contact with and due to Data Protection Act, the bank are unable to advise me of any contact information for him and therefore, can not request his authority to release the funds to me.
I would be grateful for any advice you could provide me with,
Many thanks,
Ryan White

I don't know the answer to this but I would make an appointment with an advisor at the Halifax, and ask them what you should do. They may not be allowed to give you the address of the son, but that does not stop them writing to him. It's your money, I think they should be more helpful.0 -

Alternatively obtaining the death certificate from public records may allow you to make progress, but probably wouldn't!
Without something along those lines you are snookered!0
