My oven keeps cutting out

Options
I've got a Diplomat ADP4810 double oven which is about 2.5 years old. Apart from the inside glass on the bottom oven shattering, it's worked fine until recently.

I usually always use the bottom set to use as a fan oven so I'm not sure if it cuts out with other settings, but I could set the oven to say 220, leave it cooking some oven chips or something, only to go through t find it's switched itself off.

After about 10 minutes, it seems to switch itself back on and once I set the clock, away it goes again.

Any ideas what it could be? A faulty thermostat?

did you find an answer to this? we have quite an old diplomat fan (single) oven, came with our rented place and there's no manual. This seems to happen whenever I've got the oven on very high for a while - today it turned off during my roast potatoes!

I always think it's the timer and fiddle until it comes back on (though my DH seems to have wrecked the timer altogether today and we can't get the oven back on at all) but I wonder if it's just a fault

rach, can you give me the model number?

A lot of them have safety stats, thermal limiters, that are designed to trip the machine out if it overheats. This can happen for several reasons.

For example, on the OP's ADP4810 it will be cutting out on the main oven limiter which is mounted at the rear of the main oven cavity. This can be simply a faulty limiter, the thermostat failed allowing the oven to overheat or the fan motor not operating correctly allowing too much heat build up at the rear, tripping the overheat.

  • Just a quick question, I can't help with your oven problem, but i've just moved into a house witht he same diplomat ADP4810 oven and no instruction manual, on top of which all the symbols for the bottom oven have been rubbed off! Could you help either with a manual or just a picture of the settings so i can stop guessing!
    Thanks,

The inside glass on my diplomat shattered last night, i view this as pretty dangerous - what did you do about replacing it?

I called the joiner that fitted it who contacted Howdens. They ordered a new bit from Italy. Didn't get charged for it but would've cost around £70.
  • We have bought the fan element but we cant access from inside the oven is that not possible or do you have to take the whole oven out.

You have to take the oven out as the electrical connectors are on the back. The replacing of the element isn't difficult, just the removal of the oven. 2 man job at least.
