USB TV for Laptop

There was a discussion on here a few days ago (but I can't find the thread
) about USB TV sticks and products - I think this would be good for my laptop and I've found the following product on Amazon.co.uk - it seems to come with a remote and an antenna but I would appreciate if anyone has this product, what they honestly think of it
Freecom Digital TV DVB-T USB Stick Freeview receiver, black - this appears to have a remote and an antenna but I'm not sure as to the effectiveness of this product. It was £29 but now is around £35
I intend to use it as a mobile TV for my laptop but what kind of battery/processing power is this likely to eat up?
Help appreciated dudes

I got one after reading the thread you mentioned. It works wonderfully now but it was a pig to get the software working. I found some info on a forum somewhere and had to alter one of the installation files before it would work. Also, as with all digital tv you need a good antenna or live right next to the transmitter. The little ant does work but my picture broke up badly with it, as did an indoor ant. All in all its great when you can get it to work but it crashed my machine a few times before i got it to work. Hope this helps.0

Well if the little antenna doesn't work then i'm pretty much better without it
Anyone know if it would work at picking up analogue signals e.g. from an NTL cable TV source??

yep similar experience as Eb - software was a pig and the little antenna was a waste of time but once up and running on an extrernal aerial it is great - and remember students living away from home don't need a TV licence - if the run it off the int battery.TANSTAAFL !0

the only tv source in our house is the NTL cable so my point is that if the mini antenna doesn't work, I'll either have to get an ariel from somewhere or just send it back. It would be classed as faulty if I couldn't get a picture or a patcy one, wouldn't it?JimArnold wrote:yep similar experience as Eb - software was a pig and the little antenna was a waste of time but once up and running on an extrernal aerial it is great - and remember students living away from home don't need a TV licence - if the run it off the int battery.0 -

The Distance Selling regulations means anything bought online can be sent back within 7 days for a refund, no questions asked, but you'd probably lose the cost of postage.0
