We're buying a new PC and the system comes without a monitor so we'll have to get one, we'll want 19"+, widescreen, any suggestions? (The system has a HDMI connection, so I gather a TV would be an option too). At the moment though, I want to spend as little as possible.

Well 19" are a tad small nowadays have you ruled out 24-30" ? PcPro mag are ahead of you and have reviews in print and online.0

As totalsolutions says, 19" is a bit small these days with widescreen you should be looking at a minimum of 20-22".
I have a 22" Samsung T220 which I think is a very good monitor and can be got for £127.0 -
Thanks - will look at the pcpro reviews0

Go for as large as you can afford, I run Dual 24" Samsung monitors, and the extra screen real estate is a total boon.
I picked them up for £119 each at the beginning of the year.0
