Shabby Chic/Vintage style wedding

hi there, we are early stages of planning but booked the venue for next January and it's a barn style room... so I'm thinking along the country-style shabby chic theme too! Thought about having our table centre pieces in rustic milk jugs rather than vases and if the venue are happy about it maybe scattering the table centres with pastel coloured confetti. Will probably have lovehearts on the tables as favours - we don't have a big budget for this so sweeties will be cheap but chic!
Thanks for your ideas. I like the idea of the brooch bouquet, I was thinking of having a wrist corsage rather than bouquet, so this might be a good alternative! I like the idea of sparklers too... we were thinking of having fireworks but they are too expensive, but sparklers could be fun!fran-o0 -
Another easy rustic idea I saw in a magazine was tea-light candles in paper/foil fairy cake cases... cute but cheap!fran-o0

I'm having a 1950s themed wedding also
My dress is from Unique Vintage and I got my bridesmaids dresses from Vivenne of Holloway.
Crldnll - I've had my heart set on thoese Westwood shoes since the first minute I saw them!!! they are absolutely perfect for my theme and colour scheme.. but I don't think I'm going to fit my horrible boat feet into them
Oh and also, if you're anywhere near Leeds/Harrogate there is a vintage wedding fair being held on the 14th February http://www.discovervintage.co.uk/TheVintageWeddingFair.html
mellymeep thanks for that - Im in Hebden Bridge - In going to look at the wedding fair - shoe wise, ive got mine from schuch (splg) there cortesan ones and very wide. Loving the typewriter idea...Oh gosh and the brooch boquet - Ive seen them online....AMAZING!0 -

have you thought about Chinese Firelanterns?? They look awesome0 -
I do like the firelanterns, saw them at a festival a few years ago and it looked magic! Not sure if we'll get everyone outside for them at our mid-winter wedding but its still a possibility!fran-o0

Good to see there's lots of vintage styling going on. :j My plans are well under way and it has ended up being more country than vintage but that's ok as long as it looks pretty, lol.
The Chinese lanterns look great but I wasn't sure about them as our wedding is in March and it could be freezing then!Cos I don't shine if you don't shine.0 -
There has just been news story on teletext about how firelanterns can hurt livestock and that the NFU (Farmers Union) want them banned - I think the ones that dont have metal in them are ok - bit of a dampner! Boooo. I do love them
On a brighter note Ive been thinking about make-up/hair today are people going Vintage with that too?0 -
Ditabomita I'd heard something about cattle being scared by them and was going to look into it a bit first. I work with ecologists and I don't want to upset them or I wouldn't hear the end of it!
For my hair I'm having a comb made with vintage diamonte brooches which I bought from a car boot, a friend is making it so it should be fab.Cos I don't shine if you don't shine.0
