If you can get the Amex 5% cashback, that would be ideal! I think it just requires £30k + salary and decent credit score. At 500-750/month, you'd meet their expenditure requirements for cash back.
The suggestion of Egg Money above is a good idea, although I've not used it before.
I also use MBNA Rewards, which suits my purposes just fine. But I think it's rewards are worth just 0.5%, which is not great.0 -

as the others have said a cash back card
