Is your sky the new HD?
Is your DVD player aprogressive scan output?

If you have sky or sky+ then the best connection it can do is RGB Scart. If it is Sky HD then the best is HDMI and Component being a fairly close second best.

Again, DVD depends on what it has but in general terms the order of prerence is:
    HDMI/ DVI
    Component
    RGB Scart
    S.Video (Scart or S.Video)
    Composite (Scart or 3 RCA)
    Ariel

No, sky HD you have to pay the £10 and you only get the HD which your normal subscription allows you so if you had movies but not sports you would get Sky Movies 9 & 10 HD but not the sports.

Best connection for Sky+ is RGB Scart
Best connection for a DVD player is DVI/ HDMI with the close second being Component.

Assuming your tv has a spare rgb enable scart and a component cable input

Sky+, use a good quality RGB scart cable. Make sure your box is set to output rgb in 16:9 mode.

DVD, enable progressive scan in your menu. Use a component lead (Uses 3 "phono" plugs. Marked with 3 different colours and something like R, Yr and something else (sorry cannot remember exactly!) then make sure your dvd is set to component output also. (Progressive scan does not go through scart rgb)
