When my McAfee trial ran out I installed Sygate (had Avast! on old PC but thought I'd give Sygate a try instead).
It has a pop-up telling me what is being blocked but I do not know whether they should be blocked or not. Even if I tick the box 'do not show me this again' it still keeps coming up with the message for the same item.
The current ones are
NT Kernel & System
Generic Host Process for Win32 Services
MCRD Device Service
LSA Shell (Export Version)
Application Layer Gateway Service
NDIS User Mode I/O Driver
I have no idea what these are - can anyone tell me
BTW it is a Dell PC and I have a Dell Laptop networked to it through a Belkin wireless router - both of which are working fine.

All of those should be let through permanently by ticking the small checkbox first then Allow, and they shouldnt pop up again.
As they are all integral to the PC.0 -
I hope you are using a virus scanner as well as a firewall? If not, install avastEver get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

All I have is Zone Alarm and Sygate
I thought Sygate was a virus scanner and Zone Alarm a firewall. Have I inadvertantly got two firewalls and no anti virus????????
Ooops. Just checked and have Avast & sygate. Using Zone Alarm & Sygate on my laptop.
Sorry for the confusion. There is always light within the dark0 -
Nah what you need is either or but best in my opinion is.
Sygate
The some form of Antivirus I would plump for AVG http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5
And then go into Control Panel on your PC and add/remove programs and remove Zonealarm that may be messing your PC up by having two firewalls.
Zonealrm Sygate Kerio are all Firewalls
AVG and Avast are both Antivirus I would Only ever have one Antivirus and One Firewall on the PC, (sorry about the explanation but I have a bad hangover)0 -
It depends what product you have installed, zonealarm free, and sygate are both historically firewall only products, but zonelabs now offer AV functionality in some products as well.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
