play.com is 3% fee not 1.5%!!!

Hi,

I've been waiting for my shiney new play card to turn up, and just rang to activate it...

Now remember this card is supposed to have a 1.5% handling fee on Balance Transfers, as described on MSE, on the play.com website and in the T+C's which are on MBNA's site (which can be found here).

I have just been told that I will be charged 3% for a BT, and 4% for a money transfer  - I asked, since I noticed that it said 3% on the confirmation email.

This really changes everything!

I asked the guy to clarify, and he said "it's always been 3%"...

He gave me a number to call to complain - but obviously they open on Monday. So now I'm left wondering "have I been misold" and what to do with about the balance transfer... How would I go about lodging a formal complaint?

Anyone had any experience with this lot? Thx in advance for any help/advice...

Extremely pee'd off play.com customer!

I also have this card....Play.com credit card operated by MBNA.

Not had a problem with it. Although I haven't done a balance transfer on it - purely got it as I have an Xbox 360 online and use Play.com to buy games and was interested in the 1500 points offer - I had to spend £150 on something any way.

Quote this to them, if you hadn't found it already....save it and print it off and send it to customer services if the people on the phone won't budge.

This statement is plain wrong, as I think you realise, but regardless of anything any of us tells you here, it's the Ts & Cs you signed up to that count. I hope you've saved a copy.

It sounds as though you've been given duff information. This happens to us all from time to time. Call centre staff often handle different deals offered simultaneously by the same lender and get confused. If possible, I would phone that number you were given during normal business hours, with your Ts & Cs to hand ;)

    Very best

Well I signed up to the website to see what I could do with online banking.

It quite clearly says 1.5% under "My Promotions"...

I think the chap I spoke to was a bit confused...

Thx for the responses - I shall be back here ranting if the BT gets charged @ 3%!
