  • i have to also agree with Amistoso,

its highly unlikely somebody would have an elderly lady in pain if bought to their attention..

my 2p's worth.... i think this is a case of elderly erson in pain but too polite to complain or "make a fuss", now thats not an insult to your mum at all, quite the opposite, but i do think you've pulled words out of her mouth and turned not wanting to say anything into, told them repeatedly and they refused to do anything, as im sure if it happened as you said it did any person polite or not would not stand for it and would just get out of the steamer themselves.

Saying that, i do believe the part of the singed hair, but a refund should be more than suitable to compensate for that and maybe a free hair cut or treatment to reduce the effects of the damage.

as i said just my 2p worth, no doubt we will have others "reporting some of us" just because of our opinions.
    Back by no demand whatsoever.

    There won't be a refund because the OP's Mum didn't pay - and I don't blame her.
I think this may be best left as a 'lesson learned' - and I certainly wouldn't go back for reparative treatment, but I also think that the salon should be reported (to Trading Standards, maybe?) for not having insurances.

They are only legally obliged to have Employers Liability Insurance, they do not have to carry any other type of Insurance. You can report them to the Health and Safety Executive who will be interested in the lack of Employers Liability, they will probably also have a good look at the H&S etc

Sadly, hairdressers are increasingly owned either by good stylists who know nothing about business, or business people who don't have a clue about hairdressing. When you find a good stylist with a good business head, hang on to them with all your might.
