Sony EX-85 vs. Sennheiser CX500

Hey guys, I'm looking to buy some decent earphones and really liked my friends sony EX85'S. I was wondering if anyone had experience of both of the earphones in the title?

I'm looking to purchase the CX500'S for £15.99 at play.com

Are these the best earphones you can buy in the 15-20 quid range?

Thanks for any input guys!

the cx500's. i have a pair from play. never looked back.

word of warning, when i ordered them not too long ago the black ones on play.com were sold by an independent seller not play themselves and they had quite a number of bad reviews if i remember. the white ones were actually from play.com.
    Back by no demand whatsoever.

Brilliant. I am ordering the white ones from play directly. The black ones are more expensive!

If you like the Sony EX85s, why are you going to buy the Sennheiser CX500s?

    Or am I missing something?

I've heard some good things about them and they seem to be a bit cheaper.

I would rather pay a bit more and go with the ones I knew I liked, but it's your money I guess.

Sennheiser do make good gear though.

Yeah, that last statement is the only thing stopping me from getting the Sony's. TBH, the EX85's are probably the only decent pair I've heard as I've never had good earphones, so that is the sort of bench mark I'm looking at.

Both are very good, you wont be dissapointed with either.
I think It really depends on your personal preference, having heard both I feel sonys sound brighter and clearer and the sennheisers have a better bass (mid sounds a bit muffled) and outside sound isolation (although this does amplify any contact vibration on the earplugs itself, you can tone it out after a while but dead anoying if your not used to it).

but frankly places you will use earbuds you wont notice either way, there really isn't much in it for your average listener.

Heh, I thought the Sony's were quite bassy, which I liked. If the cx500's sound a bit more muffled but bassier, I'd rather go for the EX85's!

I think I'm going to have to put off my order for tonight and think more about which pair I want! I hate being so indecisive.
