congratulations!!I THINK is a whole sentence, not a replacement for I KnowSupermarket Rebel No 19:T0 -
Congratulations - that's brilliant news!
My main tip is to accept absolutely every item of baby stuff you are offered, wherever it comes from. You don't have to use it all but if you aren't given it, you have to buy it. I didn't buy any clothing for my girls until they were 2 years old thanks to cousins who were 2 years older. And you really don't need new cot, pram etc (although I would recommend new mattresses). If you do buy a pram, look for one with the biggest basket underneath, to put shopping, changing bag etc.
And if you have any friends or family who have recently had children, beg or borrow some of their maternity clothing - you only need it for 4-6 months tops, so there really is no point buying any more than you absolutely have to.
Good luck.0 -
Congratulations!! I am sure Pink will be able to point you in the direction of a few threads here..What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0

breast feed and resueable nappies is brilliant for moneysaving
also people freecycle loads of baby clothes and toys and i can only presume that other people want to buy new for their childeren as i've had everything i've asked for namely
Pram, cot, clothes (up to about 18m so far) and loads of lovely toys!!
Only thing i've bought brand new is car seat to be safe!I have dyslexia, so get used to my spelling and grammarMortgage pay off date 11/2028. Target 12/2020 :rotfl:

Hi - congrats!!
Asda's baby event is really good atm.
Also there is nothing wrong with seconds but ive got to say make sure any car seat you get is new or comes from a reliable source if second hand. You need to make sure it hasn't been in a crash etc.
Also I found George, Primark and Matalan to be excellently priced for cot sheets, bedding and cute lil clothes etc. In fact some of the primark stuff washed up better than the Next stuff!! Oh and hit nexts half price sales if you can - excellent!!!0 -
I second what PollyFlinders says accept everything your offered. Use washable nappies & wipes. So far I have managed to accumulate clothes that will see my DD until she is 3.
I have never used a pushchair instead I've used a front carrier, a back carrier - when their older and a hippy chick.
Instead of a high chair I use a Tamsit chair harness, which is cheap and portable.
Breast feed, if you can, cheap and convient. When you come to wean make home made food.
Sorry in trying to be helpful forgot to wish you CongratulationsFashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Don't buy anything until you've actually got the need for it.
You could spend thousands of pounds on baby stuff, but the free stuff, and the improvised stuff works just as well, and most of it you only use for a maximum of 3 months.
Wait til you actually need it, and can't find any other way around it.0 -
congrats!! i had a baby in march and am now 6 weeks preggo again with 3rd
.
baby doesnt need loads of stuff, just to be loved and kept warm and fed.
no matter how tempting it is to buy lovely little sets from mothercare etc all baby really needs is a few babygrows and vests as they grow out of it all in a flash.
i am using motherease reusable birth to potty nappies with ds2 and they are fab, they cost me in the region of £70 i have 16 and find that plenty to rotate. i probably recouped the £70 i paid in the first couple of months of using them by not using disposables. i can`t recommed them highly enough they are so easy, and i will be able to use the same nappies on both babies when little un no. 3 arrives.
i would recommend buying everything you need at your local carboot, i went on sunday and it was jampacked with baby clothes/buggies/toys etc for literally pence...it was sooo cheap!
i borrowed a moses basket and used pillow cases as sheets, my Jack was only in it 12 weeks...why spend out big money
also don`t buy any special maternity gear, i managed perfectly well using my normal older clothes that stretched ie tracky bottoms and big tshirts and things i didn`t mind getting wrecked then threw out after birth i also just used to loop elastic around my jeans button and hole of course it all depends on your situation or work etc
anyway good luck and enjoy your 9 months or whats left of it, im there with youproper prior planning prevents !!!!!! poor performance!Only when the last tree has died and the last river been poisoned and the last fish been caught will we realise we cannot eat moneyquote from an american indian.0 -
Oh theres so much I could say here!!
* Accept everything you're offered
* Stock up before birth on expensive stuff like nappies (various sizes), washing powder etc - make good use of bogofs
* Invest in muslin squares - fantastic things and wash brilliantly!
* Look at NCT sales - fantastic toys/clothes etc at great prices
* Think twice or three times before buying any equipment. Do you need it? (i bought a nappy bin and it was the biggest waste of money EVER - wish I'd spent the money on a moses basket instead!!)
* think three months in advance ans start planning NOW for what you'll need - comes as a shock when suddenly they're on solids and you immediately need a blender/mixer, tupperware etc!!
Other than that.....CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! I adored being pregnant so hope you love it just as much!!
