Changing tariff Eon

Options
At present I am on the price protection 17 tariff due to finish on 1st October.
Spoke to one of the customer service staff on the telephone yesterday about changing to another tariff, told that I could not do this over the phone as my account is now online. What difference this makes, I don't know!
Went to change the tariff online tonight to Saveonline and it now asks to start a monthly direct debit (currently on quarterly bills) which I am not happy about.
I would be happy to take out a variable direct debit which would take the bill owed every three months but this does not seem an option. Told by customer services yesterday that I would be able to do this
Anyone else had this problem?
Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!

  • to go on save online or fix online the only option is monthly dd im afraid.

if you want to pay by variable dd a couple of options would be to go onto the standard tariff or track and save but you do get bigger discounts paying monthly.

i think the person you spoke to got their wires crossed.

my suggestion would be to phone e-on back and ask which tariff is cheaper for your usage if not paying monthly dd.

i think you will find though that most tariffs will be more expensive due to you avoiding previous price increases.
  • I know my mum hates DDs with a vengence but has bitten the bullet as far as her electricity is concerned.

What you could do (if you don't want to run up a debt with the company and hence a big rise in your dd) is for them to set up a dd and when you get your quarterly bill, pay the difference between what you have paid in dds and your bill.

    Hi jackswan,

gerrardfan is correct, you do need to have a monthly Direct Debit for these online tariffs.

This is part of the criteria of the tariffs and ensures that you receive all of the discount.

As you have an online account, you can keep an eye on the monthly Direct Debit to make sure you don't fall in to too much credit or debit, you can also adjust this via your online account if you need to.
