Southern electric / hydro social tariff energyplus care change - pensioners excluded
At the end of last month, Scottish and southern energy changed the terms of their social tariff. You now need to spend more than 15% of your income on energy to be eligible for the 20% energy fuel discount. For those who spend between 10% and 14% of household income on energy, a winter care rebate of £50 per account is payable.

Dave - how are pensioners excluded??0

Pensioners aged over 60 in England & Wales, NI and Scotland are guaranteed an income of £130 per week. They would have to spend over £1,000 on energy to qualify for this tariff. My experience is that pensioners consume less that the national average energy bill which is £1,100 PA.0
