I had never heard of this company but saw a big sign in London today saying they will be opening a store near Brent Cross on 8th October.
We are buying a house soon and need everything, had a look in John Lewis today and prices are scary!!
Will this store be any good for furnishing a house.
Thanks
Maro

Home Sense has just opened near us. There are some bargains around but the furniture is not the usual sort you find. It has a style of its own .... lots of distressed style of drawers and cupboards. It is definately worth a look ...you may just find something you like.0 -
Very dangerous store to go into if you like furniture/ interiors. It's mostly seconds but even you can get some really gorgeous bits and pieces at bargain prices. I have picked up many a bargain and really have to exert a bit of willpower not to go in there too often. My local store (Cambridge) has got some really, really funky halloween stuff in lately. The good stuff goes quick though and you have to pay for carrier bags.
I picked up a gorgeous console table for £80 with a scratch on it which is fine as it is against the wall. My store doesn't do beds and sofa's as such but you get really funky chairs and cabinets, rugs, light fittings, lamps, pictures and loads of accessories - it's nice if you don't want the standard Ikea/ Next look.
Here's the website :-

This is owned by TKMaxx and carries the same things that the home section of TKMaxx does plus more. They are very popular in North America. I'm so glad that one is opening near us as we have tons of TKMaxx in Hertfordshire and I was thinking of writing to say they should convert one into a Home Sense.
They sell things from big pieces of furniture, to crockery, bedding, candles, picture frames, foody bits, pots and pans, cushions etc.0 -
"will it be any good for furnishing a house" - no but it is good at finding decorative items to dress the house with. One off chairs / bowls / ornaments etc.
Not especially cheap either. Get your main stuff elsewhere and if you have anything left have a look at Home sense.0 -
Home Sense is my favourite home store. I recently bought a House of Fraser brand duvet cover, king size for £25 which I thought was good value for quality bedding. Pillow cases 2.99 v the full HOF price of 9.99. They do a good clearance section too.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

If you are a bargain hunter you can find some lovely designer pieces at knock down prices. Worth looking in the clearance section too.0

Love it, love it, love it.
I wanted some red retro scales for my kitchen and knew I would get them here if I kept popping back in. I had a price limit of under £15 I wanted to stick to. Last week I manged to get them for £12, plus 2 fantastic Stella knives for £3 each on clearance.
It's the kind of shop that you go into and spend far to much money. The little pull along trolleys don't help either as you keep on filling it up.
If you love bargain hunting and don't mind fighting your way through the junk, you will love this store.
Lots of Nigella Lawson stuff at the moment, keep resisting temptation although I might give in to the bread bin yet.I want to be credit card and loan free by Christmas 20100 -
have to admit i love this shop too. I dont think I've ever walked out without buying a picture frame in there!. Careful though, as said before, it's essentially all tkmaxx stuff, may be worth checking in tkmaxx for the same item (if you have the time/energy) to compare prices...0

The prices are exactly the same as TK Maxx, it just has a wider selection of home products, with better merchandising, than the TK Maxx stores. Where I live the two stores are side by side on the same site and the TK Maxx is just clothes. It is just TK Maxx's homestore just like Tesco has some non-food stores.
I think 'cheap' is comparative too. For the quality and design standards of many of the goods in store the prices are very good. Cheap? Maybe not. But good value? Certainly.0 -
went to our local one a few weeks ago as my son is a department manager there, its part of the tk maxx umbrella , my son worked in tk maxx and when he got this job just transferred over, like someone else has said its just the t k maxx household bit but in its own shop like George clothing is in Asdas but they also have shops selling just the george stuff0
