Yes. They were not interested in what had happened. They were happy to refund the money (eventually - Dad only got it back last week), but it seems pretty pointless to me to have a 24 hour service that obviously doesnt work!

They may well not have been interested but what was the response?

Just a standard response - fill in the claim form..

Personally I would be asking again for an explanation, and keep going higher until I got one.

I agree - if it was me I would have, but my Dad did all the running from this end and also had to do the claiming. If he hadnt have got the money back I would have certainly taken it further (although I obviously paid him back anyway).

Although it was all OK in the end, it was an extremely worrying time - my doctor told me I had just 48 hours from onset of symptoms to giving him the medicine and so time was short - my Dad did a lot of leg work at this end to do the right thing and I cant believe that a parcel can just disappear for 2 months!

I dont think there is anything else I can do, but just a warning to others not to rely on the service.

Sadly no delivery service is 100% - my vitriol is generally directed at City Link - but glad everything turned out ok

Lifeisbutadream - just to clarify, was the package sent via Royal Mail or Parcelforce? The two are seperate companies. If it was Parcelforce then I may be able to help with a explanation of what happened to your parcel. If you would like to PM me or post the tracking number on here then I will check on the system at work on Monday (the inhouse reports can give more detail than the public ones), and I will try to interpret the results for you.

Don't forget that with Royal Mail or Parcel Force, once it leaves the UK it's out of their hands (so to speak), being passed to agents (local mail service etc.) once abroad. If he had used someone like DHL or FedEx or UPS then it would have stayed their repsponsibility right until delivery, using their staff and their vehicles. (and I would venture to suggest it could also have been cheaper )

Thanks - thats always good to know in future as neither us or him had any experience of doing anything like that before - we had to do it quickly and he just did what he could.
