Another Capital One PPI reclaim

I took out a Capital One card in either 2005/2006 (I don't have a clear recollection of the date but know it was around this time) I know I had PPI on it as they informed me I would not get the card without it.

In 2006 I had an accident at work and was off for 3 months. I had to leave work in 2007 because of a breakdown. I had tried to phone to tell them I would not be able to pay whilst off ill but was not told at any time that I could claim on my PPI - rendering it useless and me in debt.

Now, it is with Hamptons Legal, and I am trying to find out if I am due a PPI refund for it being issued and never being able to use it. I asked the man on the phone and he said to send a letter about it to them, and they would forward it to CO.

What letter do I need to send to them to be forwarded? And can Hamptons forward it for me? (I am not disputing the debt, just the possibly mis-sold PPI - and maybe charges) Oh, and can I do PPI AND charges reclaim in one initial letter or does it need to be seperate, i.e two letters, same envelope
** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **
** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **
**SPC 2012 #1498 -£152 and 1499 ***
I do it all because I'm scared.

    Hi there

    Good luck with this.

Sorry to hear of your accident and your issues with these.

There are templates for the reclaiming on the PPI, on the link here:
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance

You do not need to write the amounts, and in regards of the charges I would post and ask for help on this thread of reclaiming charges here:
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.html?f=102

I would deal with these separately, in separate letters.

Not sure if Cap one have different depts, but they may deal with them on the same section.

So write to Cap one on these, good luck and if you require further help with the PPI reclaiming, please feel free to ask.

    Di;)

Also, I had a halifax cc, and I can't remember if I had PPI (I believe I did, but can't be sure) Would it hurt sending a letter to them for the same thing? Also, what's the address for halifax card services, as I think that's where I'd need to send the letter to.

    Hi there elfen.

Yes you can and see what they come back with.

Do you happen to still have the monthly statements onhand from them?

The acount number should be on the statement details and also if any PPI as well.

You could if you want to request a Subject Access Request (SAR), if you no paperwork at all, where they should send you everything they hold on you going back approx 6 years, however there is cost of £10 postal order or cheque payment required for this, and they must comply by 40 days, again post by recorded delivery as your proof of posting.
    The SAR template link here:
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1475553

Here is the address thread here:
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1619943

And the address here for the SAR request for all your info:

    L Bunker
    Data Protection Consultant
    HBOS PLC
    Trinity Road
    Halifax
    HX1 2RG

And think this here maybe the one to send the reclaim letter to here:

    HSBC Bank Plc
    8 Canada Square,
    London,
    E14 5HQ

Unless someone can say otherwise, but it should be passed on to the correct dept anyway for you.;)

HSBC? I don't bank with them....OH does, and I'll do his too. I'll need to do SAR's for the Halifax c/c and the Halifax a/c, as there are no bank details on the form, but I could ask Hamptons if they have it so I can save me a tenner.

lol, it's ok. I'd do that too, they are quite similar. I'll ask Hamptons when I send the letter if they have the numbers when I send the letters off. It'll be easier for me to do this then to go through them to be honest.....then it's time to hit the big one, which I KNOW was mis-sold....Beneficial Finance....PPI = £1500 at least! Without interest AND charges

I'm trying, but I'm going to take it one day at a time, and hope that it all works.
